Things that trip you. Things that fix them.
Common setup snags, what each one looks like, and the first thing to check. Ordered roughly by how often they bite.
Most setup problems are a cable, a power-on order, or a sample-rate setting. Work top to bottom, the most common ones are first. Still stuck after this? Email beta@churrdj.com, that feedback is exactly what the beta is for.
The setup page won't load at churrdj.local
- Give the box a minute to boot after you power it on, then refresh.
- Check your phone or laptop is on the same network as the box (same switch, or the same Wi-Fi if you connected it).
- A few older browsers don't resolve
.localnames. Try a different browser, or reply to our email for the box's direct numeric address. - Make sure the microSD card is fully seated and the box actually powered up.
The page is blank, or says "missing token"
The control screen needs the private link you got at Finish,
it carries a built-in key. Open that bookmarked link, not a bare
churrdj.local.
Lost the bookmark? Re-open
churrdj.local; if setup is already finished it points you back to the control link. Still stuck, reply to our email.
Only one CDJ shows up, or none
- Make sure both decks are powered on and each one's Ethernet cable is seated in the switch.
- The box, both CDJs, and the mixer all need to be on the same switch, one flat network. PRO DJ LINK doesn't cross routers or Wi-Fi.
- Decks pop in on their own within a few seconds, no need to restart anything, just watch the check.
If you powered the CDJs on before wiring them to the switch, power-cycle them once the cables are in.
The mixer or "44.1 kHz" check won't go green
- Confirm the mixer's USB-B port is connected to the box.
- Set the mixer to 44.1 kHz (DJM-A9:
UTILITYmenu). Stems are 44.1 kHz; the engine won't run on a mismatch, and the wizard flags it red. - Some mixers need to be powered on before the box to be seen cleanly. Power-cycle the mixer, then give the check a few seconds.
There's no Record button
The mixer's USB cable must be connected to the box before you tap Finish, that's when the Record control gets wired in. Connect it and finish setup again if you need to. Recording is also DJM-A9 only (next).
Recording is empty, silent, or garbled
- Recording is DJM-A9 only right now. Other DJMs will look like they record but produce useless files, the engine is wired to the A9's specific capture layout.
- On a DJM-A9, if the file is silent: check the mixer's USB output level (UTILITY) isn't turned all the way down. The capture follows the master meter.
A song I dragged in never shows up on the box
- Give it a moment, the first track takes longer while the app warms up, and large libraries queue in the background.
- The box has to be reachable from your Mac. If you skipped Wi-Fi, the Mac and the box need to be on the same network.
- Supported files are WAV, AIFF, FLAC, M4A, MP3. A streaming-only track with no local file can't be split.
"Already in use on another device" when I enter my code
Your access code binds to the first box it's activated on, that's what keeps it copy-proof. Moving to a new box, or re-flashed? Reply to our email and we'll rebind your code to the new box.
Audio glitches or dropouts during a set
- Give the box airflow, if it overheats it slows down. Keep it out of a closed, hot rack.
- Plug the mixer's USB straight into the box, not through a passive hub.
- If it persists, note what you were doing and email us, that's exactly the kind of field report we want.
When in doubt
Email beta@churrdj.com with:
- Which step you're on, or what you were doing when it happened
- What the setup checks show, green or red
- Your hardware: CDJ model, DJM model, Pi version
- What you expected vs. what happened
Honest negative results are useful, even a "the docs lost me at step 6" email helps tighten the guide.
